Terms of Service

1. Accepting these terms

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Onsen. By creating an account or using the Onsen apps or website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Onsen.

If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms with you.

2. Who can use Onsen

You must be at least 13 years old to use Onsen. You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for activity on your account.

3. Your account

Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date. You can delete your account at any time in settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

4. Using Onsen honestly

Onsen is built to help you learn, not to do your work for you. When you use Onsen, you agree not to:

• Use it to cheat on tests, quizzes or graded work in ways your school or teacher does not allow.
• Upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that is harmful, hateful or illegal.
• Try to break, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or get around its limits.
• Pretend to be someone else or access another person's account.

You are responsible for following your school's academic integrity rules.

5. Your content

You own what you put into Onsen, such as your notes, explanations, uploads and answers. You give us permission to store and process that content only as needed to run Onsen for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

When you add a textbook, Onsen uses its table of contents and your own materials to organize your studying. Onsen does not give you copies of copyrighted textbooks.

6. The AI tutor

Kapi's hints, explanations and quizzes are generated by AI. They are usually helpful but can be wrong or incomplete. Check important facts against your textbook or teacher, and do not rely on Onsen for medical, legal or other professional advice.

7. Connected services

If you connect Google Classroom, Canvas or a calendar feed, you confirm you are allowed to do so. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for how they work or for changes they make that affect syncing.

8. Paid features

Onsen is free during early access. If we offer paid plans later, we will show the price and terms clearly before you buy, and purchases made through the App Store follow Apple's payment and refund rules.

9. Our rights

The Onsen apps, website, name, Kapi character and design belong to Onsen. You may use them only as part of using the service. We may update, change or stop features over time, and we will try to give notice of major changes.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Onsen is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be error-free or that using it will lead to a particular grade or result.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Onsen is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you have not paid anything.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Onsen and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections about your content, disclaimers and liability continue to apply after your account ends.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If changes are significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Onsen after that means you accept the updated terms.
